I wanted to make a super-strong bag that would withstand even the ‘roughest’ schooldays. Also the chances are that there will be a laptop hidden inside, so the straps better not come off easy. I also wanted to make the bag out of “one piece” of leather as much as possible, i.e. meaning less seams (seams are often the weaker spots on the bag).  Using the thick leather (2.1 mm), the sides of the bag became difficult to assemble with my industrial sewing machine. So I decided to finish the sides (Gusset) by hand using a cross stitching method. For the strap I used doubled seat belts I bought from the car junkyard here in Rotterdam and I attached them with stainless Chicago rivets on the gusset. To close the bag I used an Italian TicTuc system.
